So at Atlantis Lodge, we have decided to make your beach vacation planning a little simpler and list some of the local events held here on our beautiful North Carolina coast to make your stay that much more memorable.

If you’re familiar with the area, you may have heard of Fort Macon State Park. An ode to North Carolina’s involvement in the Civil War, Fort Macon is far from a stuffy museum. With stretches of golden beaches, Fort Macon hosts several summer events for both children and adults. One event you don’t want to miss is the State Park Concert Series. They run from May through August and the lineup includes pop classics, orchestral bands, Cajun, bluegrass and even Civil-War era music. Concert-goers are welcome to bring a picnic and don’t forget a lawn chair or blanket. They are held Saturday evenings from 7pm-8pm. The best part? Admission is free!

Another family-friendly and classic Atlantic Beach treat are the outside, ocean-front movies screened each Wednesday evening at 8:30pm. With fun classics like Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, Annie, and Paddington, this is sure to be a hit with not just with the kids, but parents as well! Bring a picnic, lawn chair and some friends and settle down for a night under the North Carolina stars.

For longtime visitors, you may be well acquainted with the bustling and lively circle of Atlantic Beach. If it’s your first time heading down to our beautiful coast, be sure to take advantage of the Atlantic Beach Circle’s activities. Looking to add a little workout into your vacation? The Circle has what you’re looking for with three volleyball courts, a soccer court, and a swing set for the kids or grandkids. If you are an active family who prefers sports and running to lying on the beach there’s something here for you too. Join the locals in the fun beach run series Atlantic Beach holds each summer with 1 mile, 5K or 10K races across the sandy shores of Atlantic Beach. All ages and expW eriences are welcome.

To finish off the list, it wouldn’t be complete without mentioning the 4th of July fireworks.
